Our Story
"In the 1800's my forefather James "Anderson of Anstruther" made golf clubs by traditional methods, his clubs have endured and are now collected worldwide. For thirty years Bruce Clark has designed and manufactured high quality golf rainwear with the same care and attention to detail." - Bob Clark
Established in 1981 by Bob Clark the Bruce Clark range was designed and manufactured near St Andrews, Scotland. The quality of the company's products was quickly recognised across every element of the golf industry. The company's waterproofs became the outerwear of choice for several tour players as well as the UK's National Elite squads.
The Scottish based company's enviable reputation for delivering quality products helped elevate the Bruce Clark brand to become one of the Top 3 outerwear brands in the country.
The industry also acknowledged Bruce Clark's credentials and it won the second ever golf GORE-TEX® products licence, which it held for over 18 years and was also the licensee of Pringle® outerwear.
The success of Bruce Clark drew interest in Bob's design expertise and after 20 years of building the business, Bob took the decision to concentrate his time on developing the Ashworth® and Callaway Golf® outwear categories on a full time basis. His work was responsible for propelling those brands outwear categories into genuine contenders in the marketplace and also significantly increasing their turnover.
In 2010 the Bruce Clark brand was re-launched with a new range of suits, designed by Bob to the same high standards that the name had earned a long standing reputation for.
Industry veteran Stan Segal joined forces with Bob as Sales & Marketing Director, having previously held the same post with Sunderland of Scotland from 1985-2001. As well as sales and marketing expertise, Stan also has experience of outerwear product development gained during his time working with other outerwear brands.

The design, construction and look of the Elite rainsuit combines the unmatched performance of Gelanots ® fabric technology with classic styling in an understated yet high performance product.
Weighing just 880 grams, this soft and quiet suit allows you to continue playing in total comfort regardless of the weather conditions. Gelanots fabric is light, soft, pliable, highly breathable and the suit comes with a 3 year waterproof guarantee. All seams are tape-sealed using Bruce Clark's unique pre-taping preparation and all zips are waterproof.
The Elite suit comes with a choice of full-sleeve jacket or zip-out half-sleeve pull-over top. The jacket and top feature drawcord waist adjustment accessed through the pockets and tab adjusters on the cuffs to get the perfect fit. The trousers are front fly opening and adjustable at the waist and have zippered ankle openings.
Modern fabric technology mirrors golf club technology in that modern lightweight materials allow, in the case of clubs much bigger heads, or in rainwear terms much lighter suits whilst vastly improving the performance of the product.

Waterproof Breathable Laminated Fabric Technology
Breathable waterproof fabric technology falls into one of the following main types: HYDROPHILIC, moisture as vapour or condensation is allowed to diffuse and disperse through the barrier by a complex molecular process. MICRO-POROUS where moisture in a vapourous state passes through millions of micro-pores in the barrier.
Independant research has shown that Hydrophilic systems constantly out-perform Micro-Porous at temperatures typical when playing golf in rainy weather.
Created from a combination of Fleurocarbon proofed Micro-Fibre and Waterproof, Breathable Membranes, which are Laminated together in a specialised process, these fabrics have been created for use in the construction of high quality Barrier-System outerwear on which extreme events such as Polar Expiditions, Everest Ascents & others rely on for life preserving performance.
Gelanots is one of the new generation of "intelligent" hydrophilic membranes which is capable of altering its molecular structure dependant on the rate at which the wearers body produces moisture vapour. Research* has shown that Gelanots fabric is almost a third more breathable than the industry average for similar hydrophilic fabrics and almost two thirds more breathable than the average for micro-porous fabrics.
